At 27-years-old Telsha Anderson launched t.a. New York, a concept store and e-commerce site that caters to the women-identifying community in New York City. Her focus for t.a. is to feature designers that present a renewed outlook towards luxury living.

The brands featured at t.a. have been personally sourced by Anderson from Tbilisi, London, Paris, Peru, Milan, South Korea, LA, New York and other locations around the world. t.a. has been featured in Architectural Digest, Coveteur, Forbes, Hypebae, i-D, PAPER, Refinery29, The Cut and The New York Times, among other publications. Anderson has also developed an artist-in-residency program in-store at t.a., committing to showcasing work by a new Black visual artist each season.

Refinery29 wrote, “During a less chaotic year, the 27-year-old’s successful storefront launch would have been plenty cause for celebration: The place veers away from fast-fashion and towards independent designers and vintage picks that truly can’t be found anywhere else. It’s a one-of-a-kind venue with a thoroughly limited, ever-changing selection. But in 2020, with a pandemic to contend with alongside the economic, political and racial reckonings that have erupted over the past eight months, Anderson’s accomplishments are near-miraculous.”

Here, Telsha shares the goods from Shoppe Object's Marketplace that have caught her eye and explains the colors, shapes, and element of surprise that draw her to certain objects.

What kinds of products/objects are you most drawn to right now?

I'm most drawn to objects and projects with colors and odd shapes! The best thing is sourcing an object no one has ever seen before or a rendition of something someone has seen.

What’s the best purchase you’ve made for yourself this year?

The best purchase I've made for myself was a vintage 1960s kimono from 1st Dibs!

What’s your personal go-to for retail therapy?

My go-to for retail therapy is a bit complex. My favorite thing is walking around NYC and strolling into random Mom & Pop shops that have varying clothing, accessories, and home decor. I feel my best when I'm discovering something new.
