How and why did you start?

Knotting and weaving have been passions of mine dating back to my friendship bracelet making days in grade school and the love of sailing growing up with my dad. I’ve always been fascinated by nautical knots and the designs that can be created. Daydream Weaver started as a creative and therapeutic outlet for me and has quickly shaped into a stylish collection of accessories.

Three words that embody your brand essence:

Modern, colorful, fashionable.

Tell us a little about your product origins / manufacturing processes, and your favorite part!

Choosing shapes are the starting point and where my knotting will evolve. I lean towards bold shapes to give my pieces a modern look so my knotting will either compliment or contrast to stand out. My color palette is chosen seasonally which is always fun (and a bit stressful) to find. My favorite part by far is the prototyping of the knot design to create the piece and to see where the pattern unfolds.

Five things inspiring or influencing your design/creative process right now:

  1. Nature

  2. Color

  3. Texture

  4. Shapes

  5. Past Decades

Do you ever feel overwhelmed, underwhelmed, or run-down creatively? How do you balance wellness and get on the ball again?

Yes, yes, and yes! But it’s all part of the creative process and I’ve learned to take it in stride. Exercise has always worked for me as an outlet and I always find peace and flow when I go for walks in nature and let my mind truly wonder. The more I allow myself time to have creative “play”, I find I can get inspired again if I’m in a rut.

Design heroes?

Not to sound cliché, but my grandparents were trained artists and I love looking back on their work and feeling lucky to have come from a family that encouraged and appreciated creativity, art, and individuality.

So what do you think of Shoppe Object, and Shoppe On?!

I feel very fortunate to be a part of this new platform that celebrates unique artists and creatives, large and small. We’re in an unusual time right now and it’s forcing everyone to be more innovative in how we work and come together so this felt like the natural progression. It’s beautiful in that it allows for stories to be told and therefore appreciated on a larger scale than ever before.

What’s the most cherished object in your home?

I have a beautiful and rare antique corner cabinet that was my grandmother’s. It’s moved with me more times than I can count!

What’s on the horizon for this year? Any products or colors we should be on the lookout for?

I have some beautiful colors for next season that I am really excited about! A Pool Blue that reminds me of summer days swimming and a Fern Green that looks like fresh cut grass. I also have a striking new necklace design to pair with one of my exclusive earrings and am working on a bracelet to round out the jewelry collection.

Biggest takeaway from 2020?

Difficult times can lead to the most beautiful creations. Don’t ever stop prototyping!

In five years I want ...

To have made a piece of macrame furniture.
